Winter Care Guidelines for Electric Pallet Truck Batteries

With the arrival of winter, temperatures have dropped significantly. Since lower temperatures can slow down the lifting speed of electric pallet trucks and reduce their overall efficiency, it becomes even more critical to pay close attention to the maintenance of their batteries.

1. If an electric pallet truck remains unused for an extended period, its battery will gradually self-discharge, potentially leading to permanent failure. Therefore, the vehicle should be started periodically to recharge the battery.

2. Avoid parking the electric pallet truck in open-air lots for prolonged periods. If long-term outdoor parking is unavoidable, the battery must be removed and stored elsewhere to prevent it from freezing and sustaining damage.

3. The charge level of the electric pallet truck's battery is displayed on the dashboard. When the ammeter needle indicates that the charge level is low, the battery should be recharged immediately.

4. Inspect all parts of the electric pallet truck's electrical circuitry for signs of aging or short circuits to prevent the battery from failing prematurely due to excessive discharge.

5. If the electrolyte level is low, replenish it with distilled water or a specialized battery fluid. Strictly avoid using bottled drinking water as a substitute, as it contains various trace elements that can have detrimental effects on the battery.

6. Periodically clean the battery terminals and apply a specialized grease to protect the wiring harness. Regularly inspect the battery's accessories and connection cables.

7. During daily operation, frequently check to ensure that the small vent holes on the battery cover are clear and unobstructed. If these vent holes become clogged, the hydrogen and oxygen gases generated during operation cannot escape; consequently, if the electrolyte expands, it may rupture the battery casing, thereby shortening the battery's lifespan.

8. Generally, the lifespan of a vehicle battery is approximately 2 to 3 years. However, modifications to the vehicle's equipment can often reduce the battery's lifespan. Therefore, it is especially important during the winter season to frequently check that the electric pallet truck's battery is functioning correctly.
